   Anne is frequently asked to speak about Dahlonega’s unique and colorful history, not only locally but also to out-of-town organizations. She has received recognition and numerous awards for her contributions to historic preservation through her research and writing. She was the first recipient of the Lumpkin County Historical Society’s Madeleine K. Anthony Award for Historic Preservation.

    In 1994 she was presented a Certificate of Award for Preservation Publication of the Year by the Georgia Mountain Regional Development Center’s Historic Advisory Committee.  On July 4, 1995, Lumpkin County Commissioner J. B. Jones presented her with the Outstanding Citizens Award for her “I Remember Dahlonega” series.  In 2003 Anne was selected as “Georgia Author of the Year” by the Georgia Association of College Stores and was guest speaker for their annual meeting.  In May of 2003 she was named one of eleven “Humanities Heroes” from around the state who received the Governor’s Award in the Humanities.
